Gehan activates the awakening ritual of Y·N's power
Living with 7 vampiresGehan’s initiation of Y/N’s awakening is the decisive ritual through which hidden power is forced into the open. It is not a voluntary revelation or a protective act: Gehan immobilizes Y/N, binds the body beneath a blood-red moon, and attempts to make an uncontrolled inner force submit to his command. The ceremony transforms Y/N from a captive whose body is being used into the person capable of overturning the ritual itself, while also revealing that the danger does not come only from Gehan but from the power within Y/N.
Causes and Ritual Setting
Gehan is identified as the ruler of Gehenna, the realm that humans call Hell. That position gives the ceremony a distinctly sovereign character: Y/N is not merely being attacked but brought before the authority who intends to govern the awakening. Gehan leads Y/N’s lifeless body into a large space and stops it in the middle of a circle on the ground. He orders Y/N to remain there, and the body freezes while he continues up the stairs toward the throne. The arrangement places Y/N at the ritual center and Gehan above it, turning spatial hierarchy into a visible expression of control.
The ritual’s first concrete instruments are restraints. Something cold touches both of Y/N’s wrists; it feels like metal, and successive clicks reveal chains locking around the wrists and tightening. A chain also appears around Y/N’s neck. The body remains able to feel despite being described as lifeless, which makes the captivity more disturbing: physical sensation persists even when ordinary movement and agency have been suspended. The chains do not simply hold Y/N in place; they mark the body as an object being prepared for use.
The Blood-Red Moon and the Awakening
A red light suddenly falls over Y/N, revealing a blood-red moon directly overhead. Y/N stands in the middle of its light, and Gehan tells Y/N to feel the power. At first, the command produces no conscious response. Y/N feels nothing, tries to move, and finds the restraints too tight. The apparent failure does not end the ceremony. Instead, the ritual shifts from deliberate participation to involuntary transformation.
Anger begins to build inside Y/N, with no clear origin in conscious thought. Y/N cannot control the rage, and the body begins moving on its own, pulling against the chains as though trying to break free. The body then starts yelling and screaming. Gehan welcomes this loss of control and urges Y/N to come to him, allowing the true self to take over. His language makes the ceremony’s purpose explicit: he is not seeking to help Y/N understand the power but to provoke its emergence and direct its force toward himself.
The most important inward change follows the bodily convulsion. Y/N’s mind becomes numb, and the thoughts no longer feel like Y/N’s own. Y/N recognizes the danger and resists the invading force, fearing that surrender would harm the others. The awakening therefore produces a divided condition. Power is present, but it initially appears as possession; liberation from physical chains threatens to become submission to an inner force and, through Gehan’s manipulation, to Gehan himself.
Reversal and Resistance
The ritual’s value shifts from Gehan’s apparent control to the instability of that control. Gehan expects the awakening to deliver Y/N’s true power into his reach, yet the very process that intensifies the power also exposes Y/N’s continuing consciousness. Y/N’s resistance matters because it preserves concern for the others even while rage and involuntary movement overwhelm the body. The awakening is consequently both a crisis and a revelation: Y/N’s power cannot be separated from the conflict between the self that fears its consequences and the darker force that threatens to take command.
The reversal becomes active when Y/N reaches into one of Gehan’s pockets and takes a glass ball, declaring an intention to keep it. Y/N then pushes Gehan away and concentrates on making the gates of Hell appear. The attempt is accompanied by heavy rumbling, and Gehan immediately recognizes that such an act should be impossible. The object taken from his pocket and the imagined gates change the direction of the ceremony. What began as Gehan’s controlled use of Y/N becomes Y/N’s seizure of an instrument and an effort to close or redirect the realm governed by Gehan.
The scene also reconnects the awakening to Y/N’s family history. A blue bubble expands and changes into the form of Y/N’s mother, who appears worried and asks whether the figure before her is Y/N. The mother’s appearance interrupts the isolated confrontation with Gehan and places recognition beside transformation. Y/N is not reduced to the force being awakened; the image of the mother recalls a personal identity that the ritual threatens to erase.
Consequences and Aftermath
The awakening leaves visible consequences beyond Y/N’s own body. Assiah later explains that Y/N had been possessed by Y/N’s own power, confirming that the ceremony did not simply unlock a stable ability. It produced a state in which Y/N’s power could occupy and control the body. That explanation clarifies why Y/N’s movement, rage, numbness, and resistance coexist: the central conflict is between Y/N’s agency and a force that belongs to Y/N but is not fully governed by Y/N.
The ritual also causes physical damage among those who attempt to intervene. Assiah observes that Bambam has a hole through his chest from trying to stop Y/N and discovers Gehan’s mark on Bambam’s wrist. The mark identifies the curse as part of the same system of control surrounding Gehan’s power. Assiah says that the group has been under the curse for too long and begins working directly on the marked wrist, shifting the aftermath from awakening to diagnosis and attempted release.
Assiah’s intervention extends the ritual’s consequences to the entire group. After speaking with the others, Assiah focuses energy and makes them slowly disappear, while promising to send Y/N to a new home and leave the others to determine what comes next. The awakening thus ends not with a simple victory but with dispersal, injury, concealment, and the need to reconstruct relationships after possession and coercion. Its decisive significance lies in this reversal: Gehan supplies the chains, moonlight, and command, but Y/N’s awakened power ultimately becomes the force that challenges his dominion over Gehenna.
